Clarington Winter Safety and Snow Management Guidelines
The Municipality of Clarington has issued guidelines to ensure community safety and accessibility during the winter season. Residents are reminded to clear snow from sidewalks adjacent to their properties within 24 hours of snowfall. Clarington will plow and salt sidewalks on primary routes, pedestrian crossovers, and school crossings.
Parking regulations are in effect to facilitate snow-clearing operations. Vehicles must be removed from streets during snow events, and parking on roads between 3 to 5 a.m. is prohibited year-round. Temporary parking passes and on-street parking permits are invalid during snow events.
For winter road maintenance emergencies, such as drifting snow or icy roads, residents can contact Clarington's winter road maintenance line. Non-emergency concerns can be reported through the Service Clarington portal.
Residents are advised to maintain a safe distance from snowplows and to avoid passing them. Additionally, clearing snow and ice from around fire hydrants and on-street catch basins is encouraged to aid emergency services and prevent flooding.
