Clarington Updates Terms for Municipal Service Boards
The General Government Committee of Clarington has approved updates to the terms of reference for several Municipal Service Boards. This includes the establishment of new boards for Tyrone Hall, Solina Hall, and Newcastle Village Community Hall. The changes involve repealing previous by-laws and implementing new ones to govern these community facilities.
Key updates include:
-
Tyrone Hall Board: The by-law 2008-039 has been repealed and replaced to establish a new governance structure.
-
Solina Hall Board: Similarly, by-law 2014-094 has been repealed and a new board has been established.
-
Newcastle Village Community Hall Board: The previous by-law 2008-038 has been repealed, and a new board has been set up.
The updates also involve changes in board membership. Peter Martin and Vincent Wong, whose terms on the Newcastle Village Community Hall Board have expired, were thanked for their contributions. Additionally, the resignations of Crystal Yaki and Barry Carmichael were acknowledged. Janeen Calder's appointment to the Newcastle Hall Board has been extended until December 31, 2026, or until a successor is appointed.
These changes aim to enhance governance and community involvement in managing these facilities. The committee has also decided to re-advertise for vacancies on the Newcastle Village Community Hall Board to ensure community representation in line with the new terms of reference.
