Clarington to Install Veterans' Crosswalk at King and Temperance Streets

The Clarington General Government Committee recently approved the installation of a Veterans' Crosswalk at the intersection of King Street and Temperance Street. This initiative, discussed at their meeting, involves a financial commitment of up to $30,000 from the Tax Rate Stabilization Reserve Fund for the crosswalk's design and installation.

The approved design will see the crosswalk located crossing east to west at the intersection. An opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on October 31, aligning with the raising of the Poppy Flag to honor veterans.

The committee is also considering additional crosswalk sites across Clarington and aims to have staff report on these potential locations by May 5, 2025.

These steps form part of the municipality's efforts to commemorate veterans by providing prominent and symbolic public spaces.
