Clarington Secures Provincial Grant for New Firefighter Training Facility

Clarington has received a grant of $3.2 million from the Government of Ontario’s Skills Development Fund: Capital Stream for the design and construction of a new firefighter training facility in Bowmanville.

The facility will include:

  • A drill tower
  • A live fire training tower
  • A training compound
  • Large classroom space
  • A driver training track

The facility aims to enhance training for senior fire officials in incident command and emergency management strategies, provide leadership training for future Fire Chiefs and Deputy Fire Chiefs, and offer fire training certification for volunteer and career firefighters from underrepresented communities.

Design work for the facility is currently underway, with construction expected to begin in 2025. The facility will serve multiple fire services training needs and will be accessible to partner organizations and other first responders in the region.
