Clarington Raises Fines for Parking Violations Near Schools and During Snow Removal
The Clarington Council has increased fines for parking violations in no-stopping areas and for parked cars that interfere with snow removal. The fines have been raised to $75, with an option to pay $50 if settled early. These changes are intended to address parking issues near schools, intersections, pedestrian crossings, and emergency routes.
Enforcement of these regulations will be carried out by Clarington Municipal Law Enforcement Officers in partnership with Durham Regional Police. The focus will be on maintaining clear travel lanes for buses and emergency vehicles, particularly during a traffic safety blitz around schools.
Mayor Adrian Foster commented on the initiative, emphasizing the importance of safe roads for Clarington residents, especially in areas frequented by children and emergency services.
