Clarington Proposes 2025 Budget with Tax Increase and Infrastructure Plans
Clarington has released its proposed budget update for 2025, which includes a net tax increase of approximately $91 for the average household, equating to about $7.59 per month. This proposal aims to fund various infrastructure projects within the municipality.
The Clarington municipal government has outlined several key projects in the 2025 Budget Update. These projects include the development of the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre, enhancements to parks and trails, road improvements, the addition of an outdoor skating rink, installation of library vending machines, rural road resurfacing, and the construction of a new Operations and Training Centre.
Amendments to the 2024-27 Multi-Year Operating Budget are also proposed, prompted by changes in Provincial legislation. These amendments are intended to ensure compliance with new legislative requirements.
Mayor Adrian Foster has highlighted the importance of community involvement in the budgeting process. He noted that Clarington continues to maintain some of the lowest property taxes in the Durham Region, attributing this to prudent financial management.
The proposed budget will be reviewed by the Clarington Council at a Special Council Meeting scheduled for January 13. Residents who wish to learn more about the budget or provide feedback are encouraged to attend the meeting.
Further details on the budget proposal can be accessed on the Clarington municipal website.
