Clarington Mail Services Affected by Canada Post Labour Disruption

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that a labour disruption at Canada Post will affect all incoming and outgoing mail services. This disruption is due to a strike notice issued by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, which could lead to a shutdown of Canada Post operations starting November 15, 2024, if an agreement is not reached.

Residents should be aware that the municipality will not be able to send large distribution mailings, such as notices and bills, nor receive incoming mail during this period. Alternative methods for accessing municipal services have been suggested. For example, water and sanitary bills can be accessed and paid through the Durham Region’s web-based portal or at financial institutions. Drop box locations for cheque payments are available at municipal offices in Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Oshawa, Pickering, Scugog, Uxbridge, and Whitby.

The delivery of new water and sanitary sewer bills will be delayed until the postal disruption ends, with payment dates adjusted accordingly. Residents are encouraged to visit the Durham Region’s Service Impacts website for more details on how the strike might affect other services.
