Clarington Joins Partners for Climate Protection Program

On February 18, 2020, the General Government Committee of Clarington approved a resolution to join the Federation of Canadian Municipalities – International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (FCM-ICLEI) Partners for Climate Protection (PCP) program. The resolution was moved by Councillor Neal and seconded by Councillor Jones. As part of this initiative, Councillor Zwart was appointed to represent Clarington in the PCP program. The committee directed staff to implement the Five-Milestone Framework of the PCP program, which is integral to the development of the Clarington Climate Action Plan. The decision reflects the municipality's commitment to addressing climate change and enhancing local climate action efforts.
