Clarington Invites Feedback on Draft Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan

Clarington residents are invited to review the draft Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan (PRCMP) and provide feedback. The review period is open from September 17 to October 6, 2024. Residents can access the plan and submit their comments online at Clarington's website.

The PRCMP was developed with input from over 3,000 community members, including residents, community organizations, and municipal staff. It incorporates data analysis and trends to outline the strengths and opportunities within Clarington's current parks, recreation, and cultural services.

Key recommendations in the draft plan include:

  • Developing a community park on the former Bowmanville Zoo lands.
  • Collaborating with the Jury Lands Foundation regarding the future of the historic Camp 30 cafeteria building.
  • Enhancing Clarington's waterfront, particularly through the Courtice Waterfront Development and Energy Park Secondary Plan.

Residents will also have the opportunity to prioritize three special projects as part of their feedback. The final version of the PRCMP is scheduled for presentation to Clarington Council for approval on October 28, 2024.

Incentives for participation include a chance to win an iPad mini for those who submit feedback during the review period.
