Clarington Exempts Veteran Licence Plate Vehicles from Parking Fees

The Municipality of Clarington has approved a resolution to exempt vehicles displaying Ontario Veteran licence plates from parking fees. This decision was made during the General Government Committee meeting held on September 27, 2021. Councillor Zwart moved the resolution, which was seconded by Councillor Hooper. The resolution states that the provisions of the Traffic By-law 2014-059, which regulate the payment of fees for parking meters on municipal roadways, shall not apply to vehicles bearing a valid authorized Province of Ontario Veteran Licence Plate. This amendment is intended to acknowledge the services of veterans who have served in various capacities, including the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The motion was carried unanimously.
