Clarington Discusses Waste Management Initiatives with Durham Region

The General Government Committee of Clarington discussed waste management initiatives during their meeting on October 19, 2020. A significant focus was on the collaboration with Durham Region regarding the waste management strategy. The committee received a report regarding the Energy from Waste - Waste Management Advisory Committee, which included a resolution to invite the Region of Durham to present at a future General Government Committee meeting on waste management issues. Additionally, the committee addressed the status of the former fire hall site in Newcastle, deciding to delay its sale to allow continued use by GO Transit until Durham Region Transit can provide local service. Staff were directed to report back on the progress of discussions with Durham Region in the fall of 2021.
