Clarington Council Approves Lease for Winter Warming Centre

The Clarington Council has approved a lease for the former Tourism Office at 181 Liberty Street South to be used as a Winter Warming Centre. This lease, made with The Regional Municipality of Durham, is set to run from November 2024 to April 2025.

The lease agreement is for a nominal rent, reflecting its temporary nature. The Regional Municipality of Durham is responsible for engaging with local businesses, residents, and relevant agencies to facilitate the centre's operations.

This decision was documented in the minutes of the General Government Committee meeting on October 7, 2024. The centre aims to provide a warm space for individuals during the winter months.
