Clarington Committee Ends Kendal Community Centre Leases

The Clarington General Government Committee has decided to terminate the existing head-lease and sub-lease agreements for the Kendal Community Centre, Kendal Lions Club, and Kendal Postal Outlet. This decision was documented in the committee's meeting minutes from October 7, 2024.

As part of the Hall Board Sustainability Project, new Municipal Capital Facility Agreements (MCFA) will be established for several community halls, including Hampton Community Hall, Brownsdale Community Centre, Memorial Park Clubhouse, Newtonville Town Hall, Kendal Community Centre, and Orono Town Hall. The MCFA for the Kendal Community Centre will allow sub-leases with the Kendal Lions Club and Kendal Postal Outlet.

The committee has also directed staff to work with the Haydon Community Association to create a community partnership engagement framework. This initiative is aimed at enhancing community involvement with local facilities.

Additionally, staff are tasked with evaluating the operation of the Haydon Community Hall and managing its operating costs within the 2025 Community Services operating budget.
