Clarington Committee Considers Amendments to Noise and Kennel By-laws
The General Government Committee of Clarington has addressed a request to amend the Kennel By-law 2013-25 and Noise By-law 2007-071. This request was presented by Sandra Kearns, who raised concerns about noise disturbances affecting neighboring properties.
During the committee meeting, Kearns highlighted potential contradictions between the existing by-laws and the impact of noise from kennels. She supported her concerns by presenting videos that captured constant barking sounds from her property. Kearns stated, "No contradictions have been found in any area municipality's by-laws."
Following the presentation, the committee decided to refer the issue to staff for a detailed review of the by-laws. This review aims to explore possible amendments that could address the noise issues highlighted by residents.
The review process will involve a thorough examination of the by-laws to ensure they effectively address community concerns while considering the interests of kennel operators. Local residents who have expressed concerns about noise disturbances are awaiting the outcome of this review.
