Clarington Approves Veterans Crosswalk Memorial in Bowmanville

The General Government Committee of Clarington has approved a new initiative to establish a Veterans Crosswalk at the intersection of King and Temperance in Bowmanville, Ontario. This decision was made during the committee meeting on December 2, 2024, as documented in the meeting minutes.

The Veterans Crosswalk is intended to serve as a permanent memorial to honor Canadian Forces veterans. The design of the crosswalk will be developed in collaboration with Bowmanville Legion Branch 178, ensuring that it appropriately reflects the tribute to veterans. The unveiling of the crosswalk is scheduled for November 11, 2025, aligning with Remembrance Day.

This initiative aims to provide a visible reminder of the contributions and sacrifices made by veterans, offering a focal point for community remembrance activities. By establishing this memorial in a central location, the project seeks to ensure that the legacy of veterans is recognized and respected within the community.

The approval of the Veterans Crosswalk reflects Clarington's ongoing efforts to commemorate the service of veterans and to integrate such tributes into the community landscape. The project is expected to enhance public awareness and engagement with the history and contributions of veterans.
