Clarington Approves South Bowmanville Recreation Centre Plans
The Municipality of Clarington has approved the design plans for the South Bowmanville Recreation Centre, which will include a variety of facilities. The first phase of the project will feature a gymnasium, multi-purpose rooms, a quiet room, and a FIFA-sized multi-sport dome with an indoor walking track. Additionally, there will be an outdoor skating trail and a playground. The site is also home to Clarington Fields.
The second phase will add an indoor aquatics facility, including a 25-metre main pool, a teaching pool, a therapy pool, and a large viewing area. This decision follows recommendations from Clarington’s draft Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, which identified a need for additional aquatics programming in Bowmanville.
The South Bowmanville Recreation Centre is scheduled to open in summer 2026, with the aquatics centre to follow at a later date.
