Charges Laid After Threat Against Durham College
On September 5, 2024, the Durham Regional Police Service received information from the RCMP regarding a Snapchat message that suggested a female intended to initiate a shooting at a school in Oshawa. Investigators traced the message to an 18-year-old student at Durham College.
Police from the Central West division responded to the Durham College campus at 2000 Simcoe Street North, where the suspect was arrested without incident. Following the arrest, a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at her residence in Whitby. During this search, authorities seized 18 firearms, five airsoft guns, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. The firearms were reported to have been acquired and stored lawfully.
The individual, identified as Jhusmin Pagkaliwagan, 18, from Whitby, has been charged with uttering threats. She was held for a bail hearing.
