Charges Laid After Incident in Port Perry

A male is facing charges after an incident in Port Perry. On August 28, 2024, at approximately 12:35 a.m., officers from North Division were patrolling the area of Water Street and Scugog Street. They observed four males in a parking lot outside a closed restaurant. Three of the males were seen drinking from alcohol containers. Officers requested identification from the individuals. Two males cooperated, but the third male refused, became irate, and made assaultive motions toward the officers. After multiple warnings, officers took the male into custody. During the arrest, the male resisted and struck an officer, causing minor injuries.

The individual, identified as Bradley Douglas Cox, age 35, from Port Perry, is charged with Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, and Having Open Liquor in an Unauthorized Place. He was released on an Undertaking.
