Charges Filed in Death of Resident at Oshawa Assisted Living Facility
Two employees have been charged in relation to the death of a 79-year-old resident at an assisted living facility in Oshawa. The incident took place at Aspira Traditions of Durham Region, located at 1255 Bloor Street East. According to the Durham Regional Police Service, the resident was found on a bench outside the facility and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of death was identified as exposure to the elements.
The charged employees are Padmini Kisseur, 34, of Oshawa, and Danika Harrison, 29, of Newcastle. They face charges of Criminal Negligence Causing Death and Necessities of Life: Failing to Provide to Person Under Charge. Following their arrest, both individuals were released on an Undertaking.
The police investigation indicated that the resident had been left outside for an extended period, leading to their death. The charges reflect the alleged failure of the employees to provide necessary care and supervision to the resident under their charge.
