Charges Filed Following Drug-Related Traffic Stop in Clarington
Two males are facing charges for drug possession following a traffic stop in Clarington.
On Friday, September 6, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., members of the East Division Community Response Team initiated a traffic stop while on proactive patrol in the area of Highway 115 and Concession Road 4. Officers observed a Ford SUV driving at a high rate of speed and attempted to stop the vehicle. The SUV failed to stop and continued driving at a high rate of speed. Officers pulled alongside the SUV to identify the driver, who then slowly brought the vehicle to a stop. The driver presented a licence to police that was not his.
A subsequent search of the vehicle under the Cannabis Control Act revealed a quantity of drugs. The driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident.
Eden Migisha, age 23 from Toronto, is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (cocaine), Obstruct Justice, Possess Identity Document of Another, and Drive Motor Vehicle While Suspended x2.
Bruce Arakaza, age 26 from Toronto, is charged with: Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking (cocaine).
Both individuals were released on an Undertaking.
