Changes to Parking Meter By-law Approved for Bowmanville

The General Government Committee of Clarington approved amendments to the Traffic By-law 2014-059 regarding parking meters in Bowmanville during a meeting on October 15, 2019. The changes include an increase in parking meter rates from $0.50 to $1.00, effective January 1, 2020. Additionally, the two-hour free parking provision will be removed. However, for December 2019, the committee has approved a trial period for free parking from December 1 to December 31, 2019, in response to a request from the Historic Downtown Bowmanville Business Improvement Area. Staff will cover the meters and inform the public through social media and notices on the Clarington website. A report on the effectiveness of this pilot will be presented before November 1, 2020.
