Carjacking Incident Under Investigation in Pickering

On December 7, 2024, a carjacking incident occurred in Pickering, involving a black Mercedes G550 SUV. The event took place around 10:50 p.m. near Taunton Road and Altona Road. According to the Durham Region Police Service, the victim's vehicle was intentionally hit by another vehicle. Upon exiting his car, the victim was confronted by two male suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The suspects demanded the victim's car keys and subsequently fled the scene in the stolen vehicle. The suspect vehicle, described as a small black sedan, was driven by a third suspect. Both vehicles were last seen heading westbound on Taunton Road. The victim was not physically harmed during the incident.

The police have provided descriptions of the two suspects involved. The first suspect is described as a male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a blue medical mask, a black coat, and blue gloves. The second suspect is described as a male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, also wearing a blue medical mask, a black coat, and blue gloves.

The Durham Region Police Service is seeking assistance from the public. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has video footage, such as dashcam recordings, to contact Detective Constable Crosbie of the Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5360. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.durhamregionalcrimestoppers.ca, where tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.

The police emphasize that these allegations are part of an ongoing investigation and have not yet been proven in court.
