Canadian Skills Assessment Shows Above-Average Scores in OECD Comparison
The 2022 Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) assessed the literacy, numeracy, and adaptive problem-solving skills of Canadians aged 16 to 65. The results indicate that Canadians scored above the average of the 27 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries participating in the assessment.
Key findings from the assessment include:
- Literacy and Numeracy Scores: Canada's average scores in literacy and numeracy were 271, which is above the OECD averages of 259 and 262, respectively. Adaptive problem-solving skills, measured for the first time in 2022, had an average score of 259, also above the OECD average of 250.
