Canadian Government Announces Tax Break and Rental Enforcement Fund
The Canadian government has announced two significant measures aimed at providing financial relief to Canadians and addressing housing availability issues.
Tax Break on Goods and Services
The government has introduced Bill C-78, known as the Tax Break for All Canadians Act, which has been adopted by the House of Commons and is now before the Senate. This bill proposes to exempt the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) on a range of items from December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025. The items include prepared foods, restaurant meals, snacks, alcoholic beverages, children's clothing and toys, books, and holiday decorations.
