Canadian Dental Care Plan to Expand Eligibility in 2025
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will expand to include Canadians aged 18 to 64, according to an announcement by the Government of Canada. Applications for this expansion are set to open in May 2025, with dental services accessible by June 1, 2025.
To apply, Canadians need to adhere to a schedule based on age groups: individuals aged 55 to 64 can apply starting May 1, those aged 18 to 34 from May 15, and applicants aged 35 to 54 from May 29. Eligibility criteria include not having dental insurance, filing a 2024 Canadian tax return, having an adjusted family net income below $90,000, and residing in Canada for tax purposes.
Existing members of the CDCP must renew by submitting their 2024 tax return by June 1, 2025, to maintain uninterrupted dental coverage.
Over 3.4 million Canadians have been approved for the program thus far, with 1.7 million having received dental care under the plan, as per health officials.
Health Minister Kamal Khera noted the plan's role in improving health access, while Minister of Government Transformation Ali Ehsassi mentioned the benefits for families and individuals involved in the program.
