Canada Unveils Cyber Security Strategy with Focus on Protection and Leadership

On February 6, 2025, the Government of Canada introduced the National Cyber Security Strategy (NCSS). The initiative is framed around two main principles aimed at enhancing Canada's cybersecurity defenses: engaging society as a whole, and exercising agile leadership.

The NCSS emphasizes three focal areas to strengthen cybersecurity measures:

  1. Protecting individuals and businesses from cyber threats.

  2. Elevating Canada's status in global cybersecurity efforts.

  3. Detecting and hampering activities by cyber threat actors.

Public Safety Canada, overseeing the strategic rollout, underscores the necessity of collaboration across various sectors, including government agencies, law enforcement, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders, in crafting solutions for foreseeable cybersecurity challenges.

This framework represents part of the broader national efforts to improve cybersecurity infrastructures and responses.
