Canada Introduces the Welcoming a Child Hub for Parents

The Government of Canada has launched the Welcoming a Child Hub, a new online resource to assist Canadians in starting or expanding their families. This hub provides information on available services and benefits related to birth, surrogacy, and adoption.

The platform includes features like a personalized checklist to help guide parents. Benefits detailed on the hub include Employment Insurance maternity and parental benefits, as well as the Canada Child Benefit.

This initiative is part of a series of life-event resources and follows the previous introductions of the Retirement Hub and the What to Do When Someone Dies Hub.

According to data from Employment and Social Development Canada, there are approximately 375,000 births registered in the country annually.

Statements from officials such as Terry Beech, Minister of Citizens’ Services, and Jenna Sudds, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development, highlight the government's aim to support Canadians during significant life stages.
