Canada Announces New Measures for Construction Sector Labor Needs
On March 7, 2025, Marc Miller, the Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, announced measures aimed at addressing labor needs in the construction sector across the country. This was revealed during a presentation in Toronto.
The measures include setting up a tripartite advisory council. This council's role will be to assess industry needs and provide advice on pathways for skilled immigrants. Furthermore, pathways for the regularization of undocumented construction workers are under consideration, in addition to offering support for foreign apprentices.
These initiatives are part of Canada's 2025–2027 Immigration Levels Plan, leveraging immigration to address labor market challenges.
