Canada Allocates New Spectrum for 5G Enhancement

The Government of Canada announced on March 6, 2025, that it will release additional millimetre wave spectrum to aid in 5G network development. Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) disclosed this in Ottawa, Ontario.

The spectrum, set to become part of the Non-Competitive Local Licensing Framework, aims to improve 5G connectivity. This follows a series of public consultations led by ISED. A related spectrum auction is planned to support further deployment.
