Canada Allocates $7.3 Million to Support Cereal Industry
The Government of Canada has announced a funding initiative aimed at supporting the cereal industry in Canada. On October 15, 2024, Terry Duguid, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, announced that up to $7.3 million will be allocated to Cereals Canada. This funding is part of the AgriMarketing Program and the AgriScience Program under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
Cereals Canada will receive up to $6,660,817 through the AgriMarketing Program. This funding is intended to enhance market access, improve customer support, and increase exports through initiatives such as technical exchanges and market research. Additionally, up to $674,249 will be provided through the AgriScience Program to support research on environmental impacts on cereal crop quality, expand milling expertise, and establish oat quality standards.
The funding aims to assist Canadian cereal producers in maintaining competitiveness in the global market by sharing insights on cereal performance and marketability. The initiative also seeks to help farmers adapt to environmental challenges, reinforcing Canada's position as a supplier of high-quality cereal grains.
