Canada Allocates $200 Million for Youth Volunteer Projects
The Government of Canada has announced a new initiative under the Canada Service Corps (CSC) aimed at providing volunteer opportunities for youth. The Honourable Marci Ien, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Youth, stated that approximately $200 million will be invested to fund 85 projects. This initiative is expected to engage up to 20,000 young Canadians, aged 12 to 30, over the next three years.
These projects will focus on key areas such as reconciliation, inclusivity, environmental preservation, civic and democratic engagement, and resilience. The initiative aims to involve youth from diverse backgrounds, including Indigenous and underserved populations, in community service projects across the country.
This announcement reflects the government's effort to provide structured volunteer opportunities for young people, equipping them with skills and experiences that can benefit their communities.
