Canada Allocates $10 Million for Agribusiness Training in Egypt
Global Affairs Canada has announced a funding initiative aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs in Egypt's agribusiness sector. The Canadian government is allocating approximately $10 million over six years to facilitate industry-relevant skills training. This initiative is a collaboration with Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) and local Egyptian partners, including the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in Egypt.
The funding will be used to establish a learning hub designed to connect young professionals in Egypt with education, training, and job opportunities in the agribusiness sector. The program is expected to benefit over 20,000 students through technical training, internships, and career counseling, focusing on climate-smart skills in the Beheira, Gharbia, and Menofia regions of Egypt.
This initiative is part of Canada's broader efforts to support economic empowerment, employment, and entrepreneurship, particularly among women and youths. Since 2018, Canada has provided $50 million in development assistance to Egypt, focusing on various sectors including agriculture and health services.
