Bowmanville Trail Extension Decision: Funding and Costs

The General Government Committee of Clarington has approved the extension of the Bowmanville Trail, with a total project cost of $1,560,757.75 (Net HST Rebate). This amount includes construction costs of $1,260,376.26 (Net HST Rebate) awarded to CSL Group Ltd., which was the lowest compliant bidder for Tender CL2020-21. Additional costs for design, material testing, inspection, contract administration, permits, and contingencies are estimated at $300,381.49 (Net HST Rebate). The project funding exceeds the approved budget allocation, requiring an additional $417,296. The funding sources include: $667,162 from the Bowmanville Valley Trail (2020 Budget), $444,300 from Erosion Protection Work (2019 & 2020 Budget), and $32,000 from the Pedestrian Crossover (2020 Budget). The shortfall will be covered by the Development Charge Reserve Fund for Roads ($101,365), Development Charge Reserve Fund for Parks ($174,332), and the Municipal Capital Works Reserve Fund ($141,599). This decision was made during the committee meeting on November 9, 2020.
