Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment Project Issues Request for Qualifications

Lakeridge Health and Infrastructure Ontario have issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Bowmanville Hospital Redevelopment Project. This announcement was made on August 6, 2024, and marks a significant step in the process of selecting a design and construction partner for the project.

The RFQ aims to identify qualified project teams with the necessary design expertise, construction capabilities, and financial resources to undertake a project of this scale. Following the submission of qualifications, Lakeridge Health and Infrastructure Ontario will review and shortlist the teams. These shortlisted teams will then be invited to respond to a Request for Proposals (RFP), which is anticipated to be released in early 2025.

Key details of the project include:

• The redevelopment will nearly double the size of the current hospital.
• It aims to enhance access to healthcare services across the Durham Region.
• The project will expand critical care services and introduce modern facilities, including private and bariatric rooms, new ambulatory care clinics, and a Haemodialysis Centre.

Lakeridge Health will continue pre-construction activities, which include engaging with patients, staff, volunteers, and the community to gather input on the specifications for the redeveloped hospital. This engagement is part of the ongoing effort to ensure that the new facility meets the needs of the growing population in the region.
