Beaver River Bridge Reopens with Temporary Structure
The Beaver River Bridge, located east of Beaverton, is now open to traffic. This development follows the installation of a temporary bridge by the Regional Municipality of Durham, with support from the Township of Brock and funding from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation. The temporary bridge will remain in place until a permanent structure is completed.
The Beaver River Bridge Replacement Project was prioritized by the Township of Brock and Regional Council after the bridge's closure on November 16, 2023. The temporary bridge uses a modular system to quickly restore access, supporting both local residents and emergency services by connecting Regional Road 15 over the Beaver River.
The temporary bridge is designed to handle full traffic loads. Construction of the permanent bridge will proceed in stages, with the north portion being built while traffic continues on the temporary bridge. Once the north section is complete, traffic will shift to the new permanent structure, allowing for the removal of the temporary bridge and completion of the remaining sections. The permanent bridge is expected to be finished by 2027.
The project is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, and the Region of Durham has acknowledged the contributions of Algonquin Bridge and Elirpa Construction & Materials Limited, as well as Hydro One, the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada for their roles in the project.
