Arrest Made in Attempted Carjacking in Pickering
A male suspect has been arrested in connection with an attempted carjacking incident in Pickering. The event occurred on June 9, 2024, around 11:45 p.m. near Taunton Road and New Whites Road. The victim reported that three individuals attempted to steal their vehicle at gunpoint using vehicles that resembled unmarked police cars.
The suspects approached the victim's vehicle, with one believed to be armed. The victim, suspecting the individuals were not police officers due to the lack of identifiers, managed to escape the scene.
On October 25, 2024, police arrested Jalani Groves, 21, at a residence in Richmond Hill. Groves is charged with robbery and failing to comply with a release order. Two other suspects remain at large.
