All-Way Stop to Be Installed at Simcoe and Osborne Streets in Beaverton
The Regional Municipality of Durham, in collaboration with the Township of Brock, is set to install a new all-way stop at the intersection of Simcoe Street and Osborne Street in Beaverton. This installation is scheduled for November 8, although adverse weather conditions could affect the timeline.
The purpose of this new traffic control measure is to enhance road safety at the intersection. The all-way stop will require vehicles approaching from all directions to come to a complete stop and yield to pedestrians, cyclists, and other vehicles.
This initiative is part of the Durham Vision Zero strategy, which aims to improve road safety for all users, including drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. Vision Zero is a long-term, multi-agency effort to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities in the region.
