Ajax Man Charged After Incident with Police in Whitby

A 33-year-old male from Ajax has been charged following an incident involving a police officer in Whitby. The event occurred on November 1, 2024, at approximately 12:50 a.m. Officers from the Central West Division responded to a report of a male attempting to enter a vehicle at a gas station located at Rossland Road East and Thickson Road North.

Upon arrival, the officers encountered the male, who reportedly became belligerent and hostile. During the attempt to take him into custody, the individual allegedly struck an officer and attempted to disarm them of their baton.

The accused, identified as Tyrrell Dasrat, faces several charges, including failing to comply with a release order, assault with intent to resist arrest, obstructing a peace officer, attempting to take a weapon from a peace officer, and being intoxicated in a public place. He was held for a bail hearing.
