21-Year-Old Arrested for Break-and-Enters in Bowmanville
A 21-year-old male has been arrested and charged following a series of break-and-enter incidents in Bowmanville, Clarington. The Durham Region Police Service reported that the arrest took place after officers responded to alarm calls at two businesses early on December 3, 2024.
Police were dispatched to the area of King Street East and Liberty Street South around 1:00 a.m., where they discovered a business had been broken into. Shortly after, at approximately 1:45 a.m., another alarm was triggered at a nearby business, leading officers to find the suspect inside. The individual attempted to flee but was apprehended by the police.
Further investigation revealed that a third business in the vicinity had also been targeted. The suspect, identified as a resident of Clarington, faces multiple charges including three counts of Break and Enter Non-Dwelling with Intent, two counts of Possessing Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possession of Break-In Instruments, and three counts of Failing to Comply with a Release Order.
At the time of his arrest, the suspect was already under a release order for similar charges. He is currently held for a bail hearing.
The Durham Region Police Service has requested that anyone with additional information about these incidents contact D/Cst. Gordon of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
The charges against the suspect have not yet been proven in court.
