2023 Sees Decline in Canada's Head Office Count, StatsCan Reports

Statistics Canada's 2023 data shows that Canada had 2,655 head office locations, representing a 0.3% decrease from the previous year. Employment figures in these offices rose modestly, with an additional 250 individuals employed, bringing the total to 211,445.

The majority of these jobs are concentrated in Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta, which collectively account for 82.3% of the head office workforce. Major cities such as Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, and Calgary remain hubs for head office operations.

Since 2012, the number of head office locations across the country has reduced by 4.9%, illustrating a trend of declining numbers over recent years.
