13-Year-Old Cyclist Dies After Collision in Ajax

A 13-year-old girl has died following a collision in Ajax. The incident occurred on November 7, 2024, at approximately 7:35 a.m. on Rossland Road West near Stevensgate Drive.

Officers from the West Division responded to the scene where the girl was found pinned under a vehicle. She was air-lifted to a Toronto-area trauma center in life-threatening condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

The vehicle involved was a black Hyundai Santa Fe, which was traveling southbound on Stevensgate Drive when it struck the cyclist at a marked crosswalk. The driver was uninjured and remained at the scene.

The Durham Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Branch conducted an investigation, and the road was closed for several hours for evidence collection.
